[Want to chat with Jamie privately? Here is where you do it! . Jamie's office hours will be held in the art room for approximately four hours after lunch time several days a week. During that time, the room will be off-limits unless you're there to talk to Jamie.

[Jane is stuck waiting for a long few minutes in silence. When the door finally opens Jamie is looking worse for wear today. His hair is pulled back but the ponytail is unkempt and there are prominent dark shadows under his eyes. Today he isn't wearing his painting clothes. In fact it looks like he's still wearing the last shirt she saw him in Wednesday evening, just with a pair of paint-splattered jeans instead of pajama pants.]

Hey, yeah. Sorry. Come on in, Miss Crocker.

[cyan_maid]

[She'll open the door slowly when she can come in, taking in Jamie with unveiled concern. Oh. Oh, it's never going to be a good time to ask her questions...there's a flash of pity in her eyes. Sorry, buddy.]

I...I am so sorry to bother you, but I've got to ask you some things, and...and if you can't answer, I'm not going to force you. Is that alright?

[theoverseers]

It's fine. [He tries to smile but it looks a little forced.] That's what I'm here for.

[cyan_maid]

[........You are making this really hard for her, buddy.]

Mister Jamie...the PIPs. They're what lets us move freely around the ship. The same goes for you and Mister Bolton. [A pause, a breath.] You and he...did you have those put on willingly, when you signed onto this job?

[theoverseers]

We... [Jamie purses his lips and brings a hand to his mouth, just touching his slightly jagged nails to his lips.] We were told what they did when we got them. But at the time we didn't know how deep they were implanted.

[She bows her head slightly. So they knew some things, but in regards to others, the Overseers are just as blind as they are. But-]

Who exactly recruited you and Mister Bolton with such an underhanded tactic, anyway? Putting you in the same danger as the people you're meant to watch over...it's almost like they expect you to act as Champions yourselves, despite the perks.

[theoverseers]

They were persuasive in their arguments for us to run this. [He absentmindedly chews on the already short nail of his index finger for moment before realizing what he's doing and lowering his hand to his lap.] Sorry, nervous habit.

Oh, no, that's fine. [Not gonna judge you for that, bro.] I...I suppose they'd have to be, right? Incredibly persuasive.

[Even if she hasn't got a name to the big baddie in charge, at least she knows one small thing about them. Poor Jamie - let's back up a bit on him.]

I do have another question, but this one is...nicer. What kind of cake do you like?

Um, [He looks surprised by the question.] Coffee cake.

[In return he gets a tired, yet well-meaning smile.] Coffee cake - duly noted.
